I’m sick of hearing people all over the country whine about gas prices and how high they are… check out this shocking reality.
Yes that does say $4.59 for regular, $4.68 for plus, and $4.75 for super. The prices for gas jumped sixty cents a gallon overnight last week with the arrival of the latest fuel barge. The cheapest gas on the island is across the street from this joint and will save you like $.05 a gallon or something like that. On the day that this happened last week I checked prices and found that the average price on the Cape was $1 cheaper and that the most expensive gas on Maui was like $4.20 a gallon.
This might cut down on needless driving to check every spot on the island. Just pick a spot and paddle out! No more dicking around searching for sandbars…
You got to love the videos that people put together these days! Check out this dude towing in with a great white shark. Will those Cali boyz ever learn? Do you think triathletes will start hooking up harnesses to tow the swim segments of their races???
Looks like the blog is up and working again… what a fu@$!#ing disaster! Just had time to get the basic functionality up and going. As you’ll notice jut the main news link works and the rest are dead. The Surf Reports and NESurfWX are Ok as well as the archives. The galleries still ned a bit of serious work so don’t even bother there…
The backend of nesUrfari got a real good kick or two in the last few days. The databases which hold all the old posts and surf reports etc have been corrupted. Probably by some Eastern Euro techno crime lords using it to spout about their phishing schemes and porn. Sorry about the technical difficulties and please bear with us as we rebuild from the ashes!
We expect to see a solid 2-4 swell for the contest today. The contest is on for First Beach in Newport. Signups are from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Entry fee is twenty bucks.

The contest scene began in earnest, this past weekend, at the Narragansett Town Beach. The University of Rhode Island Surf Club put on their annual Spring Fling Surfing Championships, in solid 3-4 foot surf. The event was well attended, according to surf club president, Dominic Cerio. We held it off until Sunday, said Dominic, Because of all the reports on lightning and heavy rains. The surf turned out to be much better on Sunday, so it was the right call. Complete results will be included in next weeks column.
